Actions of a Follower of Christ

10 Oct

I was reading Colossians 3 today and while I highly recommend you read the whole thing, I wanted to point out Colossians 3:12-14.

12Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humilty, gentleness, and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. 14And over all of these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

This passage in the Bible gives an example of what most people today lack, including myself at some points. It helped me realize that we are so quick to be angry, hold grudges, and be contempt against one another. This is not how Christians–or anybody should act. We should not be boastful, but show kindness towards other by humbling ourselves and serving one another. As Christians we are servers and not receivers.  I made the last verse bold  because this one particularly stood out to me. Love, is essential, it is a must, we cannot do any of these things if it is not out of love and only can we do these things out of love. We must be  kind, humble, compassionate, gentle, and patient and most importantly we must  love everyone, not so we can bring glory to ourselves, but bring glory to God.

If you have had trouble doing these things (like I once had), try praying for somebody you have held a grudge against, pray that they will be blessed and that they will find Christ and know him, if they have not already. AND/OR pray for somebody you don’t or barely even know. By doing these things, I promise you…You will find a new peace in your heart. (I’ll talk about peace in your heart tomorrow). Anyway, have a good day! I love you all and continue to serve, lookout, and love one another!
